Patriarch Bechara Raii Visit to Hammana 13-9-2011

Patriarch Bechara El-Raii visited Hammana on September 13,2011 to celebrate the CROSS day on the cross holl in an historical ceremony.

Patriarch Raii visited Hammana as part from his visit to Mount Lebanon where he visited Baabdat, Erbanieh, Deir El-Harf, Jouar El-Haouz, Kfar-Selwan, Chebanieh and Hammana.

On July 27th, the Festival is launched with the village anthem performed by Hammana choir followed by a musical scene performed by the Lebanese military musical band.
A thank you souvenir was offered from the municipality to his excellence the minister of tourism Mr. Fadi Abboud for his sponsorship and attendance.

A wonderful Indonesian show was performed in the presence of his excellence the Indonesian embassador with his wife emphasizing on the cultural mixture between far east and near east, between the Indonesian and Lebanese cultures, oriental music was played on bamboo made, 100% natural music instruments, along with Indonesian and Lebanese sings. Finally, is the Brazilian parade accompanied with "Under Ground Band".
An unforgettable Brazilian night with a typical Brazilian parade was performed in the old souk alleys followed by a ride on collection cars through the village streets.

Closing day featured Dabke show, GoGo girls dancing and Zoomba latino dancing.

Cherry's Festival - Sunday June 12, 2011

As of every year, Hammana Municipality in accordance with the Office for Local Development organized "The Cherries Festival" on Sunday, June 12 in the Old Souk of the town.

This event is organized in collaboration with Souk El Tayeb to discover and promote the regional culinary traditions of Lebanon <click for photos>

Mâcon/Hammana Partnership - May 21, 2011

A Charter of Partnership and cultural exchange was signed between the City of Macon in Burgundy, France and the Village of Hammana Lebanon. This event took place on May 21 at the Macon City Hall during the visit of the President of City Council Hammana, Mr Habib Rizk accompanied by a delegation composed of Ms. Denise Reverse Haddad, Vice-President of the Assembly of French Abroad in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, Mr. Elias Chedid, attorney at law in Beirut, Paris and New York, three members of City Council of Hammana: Mr. Farid Rizk and his wife Nelly, Dr. Joe Nassif, M. Pierre Matta, and Ms. Daad Bou Assaf, a French teacher at College Saint Antoine Hammana.

Cultural meetings, lectures, sightseeing, were organized by the City of Macon, including Marie-Paule Cervos, Assistant in charge of International Relations and Tourism, Mr Hervé Reynaud, Deputy of Culture and intercultural relations . Indeed a conference on the theme Lamartine: "Influences of the Orient on the thought and action of Lamartine" given by Mr. Guy Fossat took place at the Academy in Macon, another conference organized by the Media Library Macon and given by Mr. Elias Chedid, "The cultural exchange between France and Lebanon: A Perspective"
In addition, as part of cultural exchange between the two cities, students (secondary school) of Hammana will participate in the festival "Poetry in my city" organized by the tourist office and the City of Macon and will be held in Macon in April 2012.

...This festival is becoming a popular event and an annual appointment that attracts more than 50000 visitors.
STREET ANIMATIONS: In the downtown area streets, and free for the public, circus artists, clowns, jugglers, fire eaters, acrobats, mimes, music bands diverted and amused younger and older people. A program of permanent humoristic shows all over the village which took place in inter activity with the public.
Each evening of the week-end is reserved for famous comic entertainers. The shows are held at The Ecole Secondaire of Hammana, @ 8.30pm

Eucharistic Ceremony at St George Church

August 1st, 2010

In the occasion of the inauguration of St. George church following to full renovation, Bishop Youssef Bechara headed the Eucharistic ceremony on Sunday August 1st. The church's renovatoin is sponsored by AYOUB family.
A speach in the churche's hall followed the ceremony to thank everybody who collaborated in the renovation and a trophy is offered to Engineer Toni Ayoub for his efforts . <click for photos>

Eucharistic Ceremony for Expatriates Hammanese
