On November 25th, 2011 Municipality of Hammana and Barcelona/Cercs Bergueda signed the agreement of the second phase for the Eco-tourism Project
 
Since June 2011 we started the Ecotourism project new activities in Hammana Canyoning, Hiking, and Rappelling.

 
To  discover an activity little-known in Lebanon: Canyoning. The definition of the canyoning by the French Mountaineering Federation is the following:
"The Canyoning is a nature sport practiced in a specific environment." It is down a thalweg (Valley) which may arise as torrents, streams, rivers, gorges (more or less narrow, deep);  with or without a permanent presence of water and potentially cascades, bowls, bays and vertical parts.  It requires a progression and crossings by: walking, swimming, jumping, tobogganing, de-escalation, abseiling, scrambling and other rope techniques."
 
It is an activity that is accessible to all, but requires a good physical condition. You may be back with few scratches and bruises but it is part of the game: you might be cold but the Sun will quickly warm you up, you will swim and be wet.
Hammana canyoning is part of the eco-tourism development project in the region. It is a canyon of class 3 (easy to medium level of difficulty) following the classification of the French Mountaineering Federation - FFME.
 
Practical details: 
Difficulty: 3 (easy to medium) 
Engagement: 1 and 2 (easy way out)
Length of Canyon: 1 km
Abseiling: one of 30 m / one of 20 m and little others rappel
Duration of canyoning: 4 / 5 hours approx
 
What to bring: 
Hiking shoes or running shoes that will be wet, short, t-shirt, sunscreen, water, chocolate & energetic bars, spare clothes, towel, Jacket 
 
Fees per person :
The price is $30 : covering guides and gears
 
Feasibility:
IMPORTANT: the maximum number of participants is 12 person
 
Meeting place and departure:
The meeting is usually at 8h30 am at the municipality of Hammana. After the distribution of the gear, the explanation and briefing we will then go forward to the pleasure Hammana canyon
Eco tourism Hammana's mission is to discover nature, experience outdoor activities and have great adventures in the mountain of Hammana.
Our activities are Canyoning it has four laps to get to the river by hiking up to the mountain, rappeling three levels down to the river. the fees for the canyoning is $30 per person, Rappelling is accessible for all ages above 5 years old fees $15 per person, and Hiking for all groups we have three amazing hiking trails (easy, medium and hard levels) fees per person $10. We provide Bed and Breakfast in Hammana at one of our three guesthouses with the locals, or if you wish to stay at the Bon pasteur guesthouse we have around 15 beds. the fees are $30 per person per night with breakfast.

Working to receive Domestic weekend travelers - Expatriate traveler - Domestic youth - Youth travelers - Foreign travelers for package tour in groups, and for Hammana to become a world class nature destination, a site where beautiful hikes can be experienced, an area for family pleasures, a destination for mountain adventure for canyoning and paragliding, Hammana Municipality is presently working on implementing the Eco-tourism project signed with CFI (Consorci de Formacio' i d'iniciatives) Cercs-Bergueda - Spain. Around 25 Hammany's signed to be part of the project, and received training to be able to run the different activities in the project. Around 5 Hammany's house holds signed to have their homes part of the guest houses which will receive and Host the visitors. Hammana Municipality is invited to Mâcon (Lamartine's village) - France in May to sign the town twining agreement between Hammana and Macon. Six delegates will be participating in the event

Part of its different activities, Hammana Municipality in collaboration with UNDP-Peace Building, will start soon to implement the project of  building a Mini Football (Soccer) court which will be situated on the ground allocated for the sport Erina in the Marj Area

Hammana Municipality in collaboration with the union of Municipalities of Al Maten Al Aala is working on having an office for the "general Security" (Al Amen Al Aam) in downtown Hammana very soon.
